Welcome to The Brisbane Literacy Secretariat

  Our priority

  • That teachers and schools build capacity to ensure that every child achieves literacy levels that enable their success

What we aim to achieve

  • Accelerated literacy achievement for students who are currently operating below their potential
  • Effective, high quality culturally responsive teaching that enables all students to achieve the desired literacy skills
  • Greater levels of understanding and participation among teachers and instructional leaders in working collaboratively (with parents and the child) to support literacy achievement

What we do

  • Support and increase effective teaching and learning of literacy
  • Support the effective assessment for and as learning strategies using local evidence-based measurement tools

How we will measure our success

  • Evidence of improved student achievement measured through local evidence- based measurement tools against valued social, cultural and academic student outcomes articulated in the Australia Curriculum 2010
